About The Place

Guests of Snowshoe Country may experience the haunting cries of one of our two local timber wolf packs, or meet one of our many neighbors: the abundant moose, pine martens, flying squirrels, fishers and otters, to name just a few. Birders visiting the camp find the boreal forest around Sand Lake prime territory for sightings of snowy, boreal, great gray and hawk owls, Canada jays, several types of chickadees, bald eagles, and many kinds of woodpeckers.

Or you may be so fortunate as to enjoy a rare sighting of a Maymayguishi or Windigo, Ojibwe creatures still very much in evidence in the Superior-Quetico country.

Whether your idea of relaxation is walleye or northern pike fishing, canoeing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, bird watching, rejuvenating in the sauna, sitting by a crackling fire and reading, stargazing in ultra-clear skies or wolf-howling under the northern lights, Snowshoe Country may have something for you.
